Bob’s Red Mill’s Brown Rice Flour is 100% stone ground on a very fine setting to prevent a gritty texture; a common complaint about many brown rice flours. This glutinous rice also imparts a richer, nuttier flavor than wheat flour. You can thicken sauces with it and use it for coating fish and other proteins, as well as create breads, cakes and even noodles. Bakers with celiac disease following a gluten free diet will often use brown rice flour to create a gluten free flour blend. Common additions include potato starch, sorghum flour, sweet rice flour, tapioca starch and xanthan gum. Keep in a sealed container to extend its shelf life! While you wont be able to substitute this flour cup for cup with wheat flour, with a little experimenting you can enter a whole new world of gluten free food!
